Nasca Lines, Peru

  • A mystery in the Peruvian desert.

  • 300 geometric figures and 70 distinct animal and plant designs spread across the Peruvian desert 200 miles southeast of Lima

  • Some lines are up 30 miles in length, with biomorphs up to 1200 ft long

  • Known as geoglyphs, these drawings in the ground were made by removing rocks and earth to create a negative image. Stayed largely intact for 500-2000 years thanks to his royal dryness of the desert

  • Scientists believe the majority of lines were made by the Nasca people from A.D. 1 - 700

  • Hippies believe aliens and ancient astronauts made them

  • We're not sure who to believe!

  • Here's an article from Nat Geo
